Integrated Pest
Management (IPM) at Work:
These are just a few of the concerns - and as pest management professionals (PMPs)
our job is to provide the logical solutions to these problems. Not just by
applying something but rather by analyzing the situation and providing
consultation to the client on what needs to be accomplished overall. Both
client and PMP work as a team. Some items (such as treatment) are done by
the PMP and other things are done by the client (such as sealing gaps in a
building or cleaning an area) after being consulted to do so by the PMP.
This teamwork results in good
Integrated Pest Management or "IPM".

|
 |
| |
Initial
Training:
Candidates will first study for the
Massachusetts Pesticide License Exam to become licensed for
Pesticide applications. This exam is focused especially on building
the competence to understand the use, safety and preparation related
to the application of pesticides. It also focuses on how to reduce
the use of chemicals by understanding some basics of Integrated Pest
Management, or "IPM".
Basic Field and
ClassroomTraining is then provided to prepare technicians to
service on their own.
